hmm somehow just felt the urge to comment about the dr susan lim-brunei affair which has been on the news recently.
(for those who dun know who dr susan lim is, she's a private doctor who charged like 24million for a year's worth of 'servitude' to a bruneian patient who was apparently the sultan's sister (i think). and the point of contention, ok sorry correction, there's no contention at all cause its a fact that she was sort of like a middleperson who compiles all the consultation fee of the other doctors that the patient consulted and charges the fee x 5-800)
anyway, i dun dispute the fact that dr lim is unethical by overcharging x 100 but apparently she was providing premium service so maybe she was justified in adding some 'service charge' just that she was lousy in maths and missed out a decimal place. but truth is i think there's some hidden agenda behind this whole woohaa cause its not the bruneian she's is fighting against but the Singapore Medical Council. i mean, even the 'victim' is not complaining why should SMC go and bother?
and looking at how high profile the case is, the only parties who stand to benefit are 1) the lawyers (As always) and 2) the bruneians. no offence but if they can afford to pay like so many millions since 2001 why not just let them continue to pay? i mean, after all dr lim may have extended the lifespan of her patient and you know how ppl say there isnt a price on life and since they are so rich, why not?
lose-lose situation lah basically. dr lim will lose her reputation and SMC will lose its standing by being so prejudiced.
to be honest, i quite pity dr lim. ok she may be too greedy but those wall street bankers are also greedy and i really hope she doesnt like commit suicide or anything.

anyway, my internet router died yesterday and i never felt more lonely without facebook. hahaha
and ive established that though im a compulsive fb addict it actually does not affect my studies cause i cant study without breaks anyway. like how my attention span is about one set of notes worth and i just stone now instead of fb-ing.
